The sub-categories are: Water, Sanitation, Hand Washing with soap, Operation and Maintenance, behaviour change and capacity building and the newly added category on COVID-19 preparedness and response.

Kumbalanghi was declared a model village by the Kerala Governor. It also holds the title of India’s first model tourist village.

The estimated cost of the scheme is Rs 12,031 crore, and 33 per cent of the project cost will be provided as central financial assistance.
